Do you like songs from around the world or enjoy singing in other languages? Show us what you've got at the first annual 51�Թ��vision!

The 51�Թ��vision Song Contest is the locally-grown version of the Eurovision Song Contest, the second longest-running televised singing show in the world. The idea behind the Eurovision was to reunite war-torn Europe after 1945, and originally only a few countries participated. As of 2019, 43 countries were participants, sending a contestant with an original song, usually in the native language of the country they were representing.

For this event, which we hope will continue through the years, we invite participants from all over the world to come and showcase their culture via song, dance and lyrics in different languages. The most exciting part about this is the voting sequence, which will include the audience in the decision. The viewers will rank their performances, giving their top 3 a set of 12, 10 and 8 points.

Join us to make colorful Batik crafts and learn about Indonesian fashion! We will have a craft table set up, so come design a Batik print to take home and try on current Indonesian fashion trends. Refreshments and supplies will be provided--all you need to do is show up!

The Anderson Language and Technology Center (ALTEC) is pumped to have our first ever escape room! We are turning The HIVE @ALTEC into different rooms and teams will be given the goal of working together to escape. How do they escape? Groups will use world language skills to solve puzzles, hunt for clues and ultimately try to find the key that will lead to their escape.

Students, do you have what it takes to escape in 45 minutes? Bring your friends and language skills for this exciting challenge.

Faculty, would you like to help us run an escape room? Let us know! Want to try this in your classroom? We have escape room templates that can be modified for any class/level for future use.

Are you curious how holidays are celebrated around the world? The Anderson Language and Technology Center (ALTEC) is partnering with 51�Թ�� language departments to display fascinating information and artifacts to help you learn about these international festivals and traditions. Visit The HIVE @ALTEC (Hellems 159) to check out how people around the world celebrate their heritage and vibrant cultures.

Here are the upcoming holiday displays for spring 2020:

March 9–March 20 Purim (Israel)

March 23–April 10 Isra' Mi'raj (Indonesia)

April 21–May 1 Ramadan (Worldwide)

In partnership with Education Abroad and International Student and Scholar Services, the Anderson Language and Technology Center is excited to display in The HIVE @ALTEC (Hellems 159) a selection of photos taken by study abroad and international students at 51�Թ��. These photos contribute to celebrating International Education Week as part of an annual photo contest.
