IRES-Perovskites Application

Ready to Take Your Research Global?

Contribute to the Future of Solar Energy with the IRES-Perovskites Program

Silicon solar cells are approaching their limits—but metal-halide perovskites (MHPs) are changing the game. With their exceptional opto-electronic properties, defect tolerance, and potential to work in tandem with silicon, MHPs could dramatically boost solar efficiency. The big challenge now? Making them stable and scalable enough for real-world use.

That’s where you come in.

The IRES-Perovskites Program offers graduate and undergraduate students the chance to spend 10 weeks in Germany to tackle these challenges head-on, working with leading scientists in perovskite photovoltaics at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. You’ll gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge solar research, strengthen international collaborations, and make real contributions toward the future of renewable energy.

Who should apply?

Graduate and undergraduate students in chemistry, physics, materials science, or engineering who are passionate about renewable energy and ready for a global research experience.

What you’ll get:

  • A fully funded 10-week research stay in Germany
  • Hands-on training in perovskite solar cell research
  • Mentorship from top researchers in the field
  • An international network of collaborators and peers
  • The opportunity to help shape the future of clean energy
