Thinking about taking classes this summer? Summer Session at 51�Թ�� has hundreds of classes available to help you earn credit toward your degree. Summer classes allow you to shorten your time to graduation and let you focus on one or two classes at a time.

Summer Session courses are offered during multiple sessions that fit your schedule and, if your summer unexpectedly frees up, registration remains open through at least the second day of the session (view session calendars).

Session Dates & Instruction Formats

This summer, classes are available in multiple instruction modes: in-person, online, remote or hybrid. You can check your class's instruction mode using the summer class schedule.

Maymester: May 12–30
Session A: June 2–July 3
Session B: July 8–August 8
Session C: June 2–July 25
Session D: June 2–August 8
Augmester: August 4–20

Since summer classes are typically shorter than full-semester classes, it’s important to view the session calendars to make sure you understand session deadlines and impacts (including drop and withdrawal deadlines).

If you have any questions about summer courses, contact your academic advisor or email the Summer Session team.

If you're using VA benefits to pay for classes, please monitor your schedule for changes to the instruction method and contact 51�Թ��'s Veteran and Military Affairs office with questions.

We sent this email on Monday, April 21, 2025, to students who were enrolled in a Fall 2025 class that was evaluated as eligible for grade replacement.

According to our records, you've enrolled to retake the same class or a direct equivalent of [Class] in Fall 2025. We've evaluated that this class is eligible for grade replacement.

Grade replacement is applied automatically at the end of each term for eligible courses and students. We’ll send you another email once grade replacement has been applied to your record (after grades have posted at the end of the semester).

Remember, the grade you earned in the most recent prior attempt will still appear on your transcript, but it will be replaced in your cumulative GPA and credit totals by the grade from your latest attempt as long as that grade is the same or better.

Repeating a Course Without Grade Replacement

If the course becomes ineligible for grade replacement, grade replacement won’t be applied and the grades from both attempts will be included in your cumulative and major GPAs, credit totals and academic standing. For example, if a lower grade is earned in the latest attempt, or if you withdraw or drop the class. Learn more about the eligibility requirements for grade replacement.

You may also repeat a course without grade replacement by submitting an opt-out request from your Colorado email to registrar@colorado.edu by the last day of the semester. Opting out of grade replacement is irreversible. Please meet with your advisor to discuss how opting out of grade replacement will impact your GPA and academic standing.

What You Need to Know

In-state students: All active, registered Colorado voters automatically receive a ballot in the mail a few weeks before Election Day. If you plan to vote in 51�Թ�� or in your home county, make sure you're registered to vote and that your ballot mailing address is up to date. Colorado voters may update their registration anytime.
Out-of-state students: You may choose to either request an absentee ballot from your home state or register to vote in 51�Թ�� County. You cannot register and/or vote in both locations. Many states have a registration and/or absentee ballot request deadline, so act now to receive your ballot.

Note: If you register to vote in Colorado, you may be considered a Colorado resident for motor vehicle registration, income tax, and jury duty purposes. Registering to vote does not automatically make you a resident for tuition purposes. Your 51�Թ�� tuition classification won't change unless you take all of the necessary actions to establish residency and successfully petition for a change in residency.
Students living on campus: Whether voting in Colorado or in your home state via absentee ballot, you must use your mailbox number, not your dorm room number for your ballot to find you. Visit 51�Թ�� County's Student Voting Guidelines page for instructions.

Fall 2025 registration for continuing undergraduates closes Thursday, May 22 and will not reopen until July 23 for schedule adjustment. You won’t be able to add or edit your classes between Friday, May 23 and Tuesday, July 22. Your enrollment status may affect your eligibility for housing, tuition remission, health insurance, financial aid, loan deferment status, purchasing a CU Sports Pass and more.

If you're considering dropping below full-time status, contact the applicable offices to find out how this change could affect you.

If you're having difficulty choosing classes or navigating registration, follow these steps to keep moving forward.

Schedule an advising appointment.
Clear any holds that will prevent you from registering.
Complete preregistration (see our step-by-step instructions).
Build your shopping cart.
If a class is closed, join the waitlist and use drop if enrolled on a backup class.
If a class you need is only offered on another CU campus, consider intercampus enrollment.
Finish enrolling in classes.

Registration is open for Fall 2025, but it doesn't look like you've enrolled in classes yet. For the best chance to get the classes you want, we encourage you to register as soon as possible.

Registration for continuing undergraduate students remains open through Thursday, May 22. Schedule adjustment opens July 23 and remains open through open enrollment. You won’t be able to add or edit your classes between Friday, May 23 and Tuesday, July 22.

Waitlist processing will pause starting May 23 and will resume July 23.

Your enrollment status may affect your eligibility for housing, tuition remission, health insurance, financial aid, loan deferment status, purchasing a CU Sports Pass and more. Your College Opportunity Fund (COF) stipend can't be applied to your bill because the Social Security number (SSN) in your 51�Թ�� record doesn't match the one in your COF application.

COF was created by the Colorado Legislature to pay a portion of total in-state tuition for eligible undergrads. There's no limit to the number of students who receive it, and you never have to pay it back.

To Correct Your Record

To resolve this error, follow our step-by-step instructions to update your record by 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

Do not email anything containing your SSN. Doing so could put you at high risk for identity theft.

Once you receive an email confirming that your record was updated, follow our online instructions to authorize COF by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
