For 31 years, Rob Drugan has taught a course on behavioral medicine at Brown University and the University of New Hampshire. Last year, he decided to take his course—which focuses on the benefits of exercise—across the continental U.S., traveling by bike with Connie Eppich.

Captain Julia Lisella (SLHSci’20) of Littleton, Colorado, played with every class in CU women’s lacrosse history. Julia has anchored multiple top-25 seasons for the Buffs, and some of her best saves have come with her eyes closed.

Brand (Bus’53, Aero’60) made history when he and his Apollo crew members met with Soviet cosmonauts in space in 1975, only to narrowly survive a near-fatal landing back on Earth. 

For alumnus Joe Klecker, running talent comes in the family; his mom made the 1992 Olympic team and his dad holds the U.S. 50-mile ultramarathon record. Now, he'll be heading pro and will compete at the eventual Tokyo Olympic trials.

David Bolen became the first CU student to qualify for the U.S. Olympic team in 1948, running the 400-meter dash. His trip to the 1948 Olympics in London ignited a passion in what sports could do for world peace, and led to a post-Olympic life as an ambassador to multiple countries.

After moving up the ranks from custodian to principal, Michael Atkins has his sights set on an even broader goal—transforming the education system.

Alumna Barbara Bentree returns to the College of Music with her new film. She reflects on her time at CU and her early career, the importance of music and the process of honoring one of the industry’s greats—Dave Grusin.

“When I’m singing or studying music, everything else in the world just melts away,” says Sue Baer. “It’s all I think about. It nourishes my spirit.”

Put rural communities on the map and you might literally be building roads to prosperity. For Walker Kosmidou-Bradley, that’s the plan.
